JR Motorsports driver Connor Zilisch will attempt to race Friday at Daytona International Speedway, less than two weeks after breaking his collarbone during a nasty, slip-and-fall accident in victory lane.

Zilisch, a 19-year-old who is expected to compete in the Cup Series next year for Trackhouse Racing, will have Parker Kligerman on standby at Daytona and said Thursday afternoon he "most likely" will drop to the rear at the start of the race and be replaced by Kligerman at the time of the first caution.

And so – again - it will come down to a perpetually thrilling night-time 400-miler at the Daytona International Speedway to finalize the NASCAR Cup Series Playoff field. Fourteen of the 16 positions are already firmed up by winning drivers this season.
