An early-morning tragedy on Detroit's west side left three people dead and two others in the hospital after a fire broke out at a home.

A 7-year-old boy died in a weekend house fire on Detroit's west side, officials said. Detroit firefighters were called shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday to the 12000 block of Rutherford Street near Plymouth and Greenfield roads for a fire in a home.
