An earthquake shook parts of West Texas Friday afternoon with a preliminary magnitude of 4.7, according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was recorded about 15 miles southwest of Ackerly, which is roughly 60 miles northwest of Midland and 320 miles west of Dallas.

A 5.0 magnitude earthquake struck West Texas, felt over 150 miles away with no immediate deaths or injuries reported.
