Technically, the New York City Marathon finish line each year closes at 10 p.m., and this year’s race saw a record-breaking 59,226 competitors log official times to make it the largest marathon ever. But the cutoff doesn’t mean the Big Apple party stops before the last person out on the course completes the full journey through the five boroughs.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone reacted to the close finish in the men's division at the New York City Marathon. The men's elite race featured an incredible lineup of athletes that included Olympic gold medalist Eliud Kipchoge, star Ethiopian athlete Kenenisa Bekele, and Benson Kipruto, among others.
2:19:51: The women’s course record set by Hellen Obiri, who claimed her second victory in New York and fourth World Marathon Major title. The Kenyan runner broke a 22-year-old course record and became the eighth woman to repeat as champion.
