NASA’s Curiosity rover has come across the best proof that there was once life on Mars. The discovery from a rock sample Curiosity drilled in 2020 possessed the largest variety of organic molecules ever found on the Red Planet.
"This experiment's never been run before on another world," said Amy Williams, an astrobiologist working on the Curiosity mission.
A NASA rover has discovered more building blocks of life on Mars after carrying out a chemistry experiment never before conducted on another planet, scientists said Tuesday.
NASA’s Curiosity rover detected 21 ancient organic molecules on Mars, including compounds containing carbon, sulfur and nitrogen.
The findings reveal that the Martian surface can preserve the kinds of molecules that could serve as signs of ancient life.
