The Trump-Zelensky meeting stunned American observers and was widely celebrated by allies of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Before President Zelensky arrived at the White House, President Trump - who waited briefly outside before greeting his Ukrainian counterpart - was asked by a reporter if he felt it was going to be a good meeting. Trump gave no words in response, and flashed a thumbs-up instead.
