A late Victor Osimhen’s goal earned Super Eagles a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic, in Group D 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday.

The match started with a dominant Nigeria, but as the minutes passed, Benin took control and made it 1-0. The rest of the first half was all about the home side looking for the second. The second half started with a more aggressive visitors in search of an equalizer that never seemed to come.

Although the Super Eagles have qualified for the competition, the 1-1 draw means they will finish the group as leaders.

Victor Osimhen continued his impressive run of form by scoring yet another goal for Nigeria against the Republic of Benin in the 2025 AFCON qualification fixture.

Nigeria, with 10 points on the log, are leading the lot and need just a point to reach the competition taking place in late 2025.
