Barcelona have been playing games away from the iconic stadium since 2023 because of the major renovation project that remains ongoing. Full completion is still a way off, but the club wanted to re-open with a reduced capacity this season, after two years at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

After a long two years spent displaced from their regular home, Barcelona fans have been eagerly awaiting a return to the Camp Nou, but the wait continues as construction delays forced the club to move a preseason friendly.

Earlier in the summer, Barca were confident they could finally return to play at the Camp Nou for the start of this campaign, albeit with a limited attendance while work continued on the stadium. That date was pushed to mid-September, with La Liga agreeing to let Barca play their first three games away from home.
