That’s according to PetaPixel, which during a tour of Sigma’s Japanese HQ, was told that making the Sigma BF’s aluminum housing requires seven hours of milling by two machines. That amounts to a production output of about nine cameras per day.

The Sigma BF looks like a luxury tech company’s bid to enter the imaging industry. Either that or a prop from 2001: A Space Odyssey – I’ve never seen a full-frame camera like it!

It’s less minimalist on the inside, although to maintain that sleek look Sigma has opted for 230GB of internal storage instead of using memory cards, which might put some shutterbugs off, but should be enough to store around 14,000 JPEGs captured by the 24MP full-frame sensor.

The Sigma BF features simplified controls on the back, a redesigned user interface, and 230GB of built-in storage.

The BF has 230GB of internal memory instead of any removable media cards and uses the USB slot to transfer data off the camera. Sigma says this is sufficient for 14,000 JPEGs, 4300 uncompressed DNG Raws or 2.5 hours of video shot in its highest quality settings.
