M icrosoft’s modernization of the Windows UI has been a long, winding road culminating in the sleek appearance of Windows 11.

Microsoft has tried to dumb down its Control Panel with a simple UI over the years, rather than a list of options, but there’s still a number of settings that don’t exist in the new PC Settings app.

In a step toward removing the Control Panel from Windows, Microsoft moved the advanced networking settings into a new area within the Settings apps.

An internal build of Windows 11 had a hidden “Soundscape” page, presumably to replace 'Sounds' settings in the Control Panel.

Microsoft might dump the Control Panel in favor of its new Settings page, but the company needs to do some serious work before that happens.
