The investigation began early Tuesday when authorities in Texas contacted their counterparts in the Hoosier State about an X account tied to Cherry that made threats toward Musk earlier this month.
Cherry is alleged to have posted threats toward Musk on X, formerly Twitter, the social media platform owned by Musk, a key ally of President Donald Trump who serves as his senior advisor. Specifics of the threats were not disclosed, but authorities said they involved threats toward the billionaire’s life.
David Cherry allegedly confessed that he'd made the threatening posts in an attempt to be "edgy" and to "get a reaction out of people," according to court documents.
