The Southeastern Conference reported a financial deficit for the 2024 fiscal year after league made expansion-related payments to Oklahoma, Texas.

The SEC announced $808.4 million in revenue distribution to its 16 member universities for the 2023-24 fiscal year, which ended Aug. 31, 2024. Included in that figure are Oklahoma and Texas, which officially joined the conference in July 2024.

Texas and Oklahoma, which officially joined the SEC in July, received nearly half of what the other 14 member schools got in their payouts this year.

The SEC's 14 pre-expansion members saw their league revenue share increase to $52.5 million for fiscal 2023-24. Texas and Oklahoma each received $27.5 million.
