Lebanon’s new government has won a confidence vote in Parliament, with the support of Hezbollah’s bloc, even though the government statement adopted took a swipe at the group’s weapons.

Lebanon's new government won a confidence vote in parliament on Wednesday, following a speech by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam promising to push for economic and financial reforms and to start negotiations with the International Monetary Fund.

Lebanon’s parliament on Wednesday approved the new government led by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam. Ninety-five out of the 128 lawmakers voted in favor of Lebanon’s first full-fledged government since 2022.

The Lebanese parliament gave their backing to the new government's ministerial statement, which excluded acknowledgement of Hezbollah, days before President Aoun is set to visit Saudi Arabia.

Lebanon's new government secured a vote of confidence from the country's parliament on Wednesday, supporting a ministerial statement which scrapped the term “armed resistance” while vowing to establish a state monopoly on arms – a major break from past policies.
