Shore towns in New Jersey and Delaware are bracing for the worst of Hurricane Erin as the sprawling storm continues traveling up the East Coast on Thursday.

Beaches along the New Jersey coast and in Delaware were closed Tuesday as the powerful storm churned in the Atlantic. New York City announced its beaches would close on Wednesday and Thursday.

Check cameras on Coastal Highway between Dewey and Bethany beaches for flooding concerns. Cameras on and around the Charles W. Cullen Bridge over the Indian River Inlet have beach and bay views. There's also a good view of the Delaware Bay on Prime Hook Road, north of Broadkill Beach.

Delaware has a wide variety of beach options, from bustling family-friendly towns to ones suited for nightlife, but there's a more laid-back option nearby, too.
