The US celebrates Independence Day on July 4 every year to commemorate the country's declaration of Independence from Great Britain in 1776.

The Fourth of July brings more than fireworks and family gatherings. This year will also bring record-breaking traffic to the Silver State, warns an AAA expert. Holiday travel through Las Vegas, Reno and across Nevada looks to bring longer lines to airports and gridlock to the highways.

James Fuller, a former firefighter, advises residents to purchase only from licensed retailers and to verify local regulations before using fireworks at home.

The fireworks will be launched from four barges between Pier 17 and the Downtown Manhattan Heliport on the lower East River in the Seaport District.

Bayfront Park: "Bayfront Park 4th of July Festival: Centennial Celebration", will include live entertainment, food, drinks, and a fireworks display. The festival commemorates the park's 100th anniversary. Live entertainment will include performances by Orlando Mendez the U.S. Navy Band and Higher Ground.
