After weeks of partisan fighting, the Texas Senate approved a new congressional map and sent the plan to Gov. Greg Abbott’s desk early Saturday morning. NewsNation’s Xavier Walton has the latest developments.

Republican lawmakers pushed the map through over fierce Democratic opposition, positioning the GOP to net up to five additional seats in Texas.

A legal challenge has been filed against Texas's newly enacted congressional map, which plaintiffs claim is an unconstitutional racial gerrymander that dilutes the voting power of communities of color.
