The Athletics homecoming was not what anyone in the green and gold was hoping for, with the home team getting outscored 35-9 in their first three games in Sacramento

The Chicago Cubs are part of the first major-league series played at Sutter Heath Park, a Triple-A stadium the Athletics are calling home for at least the next three seasons.

All the A’s players wore No. 24 jerseys to honor late Hall of Famer Rickey Henderson, who died Dec. 20 five days before his 66th birthday. A 24-second moment of silence was held following player introductions. Henderson’s three daughters threw out ceremonial first pitches.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Seiya Suzuki went up to the plate looking for a pitch to hit early in the count. So, when A’s starting pitcher Jeffrey Springs threw him a first-pitch fastball over the middle of the plate, he jumped all over it, launching a no-doubter onto the roof of the Sutter Health Park clubhouse building beyond the left-field fence.

The Chicago Cubs offense was rolling in Sacramento as they swept a three game series against the Athletics. Their 35 runs scored was the most ever given up by the Athletics during their first three home games of a season.
