When the New York Giants drafted Jaxson Dart 25th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, no one thought he'd play this well this soon. Dart has the athletic tools and accuracy to start in the NFL, but he was deemed a project that would take time to develop.
The Giants used a first-round draft pick on Jaxson Dart with the thought that one day he will be their franchise quarterback, and everything he has done in the preseason has justified that selection.
Luckily for the rookie QB, the Giants quickly announced that Dart was cleared from concussion protocol per ESPN's Jordan Raanan. On the play after his exit, Winston tossed a 30-yard touchdown pass to Jalin Hyatt for New York's second score of the night, with the first at the hands of Dart.
New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart has continued to impress former NFL coach Jon Gruden in the preseason.
"Being a rookie quarterback is not easy — being a quarterback is not easy — so he knows he's got a lot of things to work on, but he's made progress every day," Daboll said.
For Jameis Winston and Jaxson Dart, it was an NFL preseason party as the New York Giants blew out the New England Patriots, 42-10, to go 3-0 in the preseason for the first time since 2014. That team finished 6-10, so not exactly a good omen.
