Jon Stewart pulled no punches Monday over CBS’s cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s late-night show. During Monday night’s broadcast of “The Daily Show,” Stewart’s first since Colbert on Thursday shared that “The Late Show” would not return beyond May 2026, the late-night veteran lambasted CBS for canceling the program.
The gag started with Miranda and Weird Al coming out to perform a song – a Coldplay song, in fact, a reference to the Astronomer scandal, which saw the CEO resigning after getting caught with the company’s HR chief on a kiss-cam at a recent concert from Chris Martin’s band.
Jon Stewart backed Stephen Colbert during Monday night’s monologue on The Daily Show, joining a chorus of voices slamming CBS after its abrupt decision to end The Late Show in 2026, which Colbert has hosted for a decade.
