President Donald Trump has failed to secure an agreement from Vladimir Putin to end Russia’s war in Ukraine, falling short in his most significant move yet to stop the bloodshed, even after rolling out the red carpet for the man who started it.

President Trump blasted Democrat Sen. Chris Murphy, of Connecticut, as a "lightweight," calling the lawmaker "unattractive" and "stupid," after he criticized the Trump-Putin summit.

However U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff revealed that Putin agreed to allow the U.S. and its European allies to offer Ukraine a security guarantee at his meeting with Trump.

Trump and Putin met for three hours in Alaska, but did not announce a deal on possibly ending the Ukraine war.

President Trump and Russian President Putin drove off together in the presidential vehicle, "The Beast," as the leaders arrived in Anchorage, Alaska for a summit to discuss the Ukraine war. Putin could be seen laughing as the two leaders drove off for a historic summit which is expected to last hours.
