Trump leaves Alaska summit with Putin empty-handed after failing to reach a deal to end Ukraine war
President Donald Trump has failed to secure an agreement from Vladimir Putin to end Russia’s war in Ukraine, falling short in his most significant move yet to stop the bloodshed, even after rolling out the red carpet for the man who started it.
Lawmakers retreated to their partisan corners in response to the Trump-Putin summit in Alaska, with Republicans praising the president and Democrats arguing he was too cozy with Putin.
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s bodyguards were reportedly seen carrying his ‘poop suitcases’ to the Alaska Summit in the United States. According to reports, his security team collects his stool and transports it back to Russia during foreign trips.
However U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff revealed that Putin agreed to allow the U.S. and its European allies to offer Ukraine a security guarantee at his meeting with Trump.
Ahead of the meeting, Trump appeared to place the onus of ending the war on the Ukrainian leader, while emphasizing that Ukraine must give up Russian-annexed Crimea and its hopes of joining NATO — key Kremlin demands.
