U.S. stock index futures rose on Thursday, as investors cautiously welcomed tariff talks between the U.S. and Japan on the final trading day of the week, recovering some ground after sharp losses in the previous session.

Japan’s stocks climbed as the outcome of initial trade talks in Washington eased concern that the US would pressure Tokyo into a stronger yen as part of tariff negotiations.

The Nikkei Stock Average rose 0.6%, with electronics and heavy industry stocks leading gains. TDK added 3.3% and Advantest gained 2.1%, while Kawasaki Heavy Industries advanced 3.5%.
