It does this even when there is a disc in there. It doesn't matter if it is a CD audio disc, DVD disc, or Blu Ray disc. This started happening when I upgraded from Win 7 Pro to Win 10 but it wasn't immediate. I swapped the disc drive out for an older DVD-rom drive and that worked for a while but then experienced the same issue.

Sep 9, 2023 · Same result. If I double-click to open the drive with a Blu-ray in, it ejects and tells me to insert a disc. If I leave the disc inserted and try to start the Blu with VLC it also indicates there's nothing in the drive. It's certainly seems as if the drive is the defective part of this whole situation, not the Windows driver(s).

Jan 10, 2021 · The drive will recognize audio CD/ data/media DVD's but not Blu-Ray disks. I put a BR in the drive, close the drive and the drive pops open with an "Insert disk in drive" pop up on the screen. I've manually gone into computer management and triggered a drive update, but it returns with the the driver is already the best available.

Nov 21, 2019 · I observed that after I disabled all the non-Microsoft services that my Blu ray optical drive worked properly. I then followed the instructions of turning half the services back on and keeping half of the services off. Eventually, I came to a service that when turned on would keep my Blu ray optical drive from working properly.

May 6, 2021 · I really feel that adding external Blu-Ray drive connectivity to Series S is a must. Those disc based games would be only playable in backwards compatibility mode. It´s not the intention to create a cheaper Series X-ish machine. It is the intention to be able to play your old(er)- or back- catalogue of games.

Aug 14, 2015 · After upgrading to Windows 10 my LG blue ray drive is not showing up. I have two drives. One is the LG blue ray dual layer writer and the other is a generic DVD multi RW drive. Before the upgrade the LG blue ray was the primary D drive and the DVD was the secondary E drive. The DVD is showing up as the E drive in Windows 10 but no blue ray.
