Aug 26, 2015 · The retail version of Civ 4 uses an unsupported DRM and as such won't work on Win 10 because of that. HOWEVER you can contact 2K Support and request a Steam key, as the Steam version doesn't use said DRM. This worked for me. They emailed me the same day and provided a Steam key at no charge. right-click the civ. icon, choose 'properties', choose the 'compatibility' tab, check 'Run this program in compatibility mode for', choose windows XP or Windows Vista from the list, and click OK. I hope this helps.

Do you have the disk version or are you launching from steam? (civ v I believe is only available on steam). Can you try re-syncing files via steam?
