Ok yall. Here is how I like to load a quilt onto my longarm. I’m quilting on a @babylocksewing Regalia. This particular quilt top (pattern is cosmic feathers by @taraleequiltery ) was extra tricky to load because the silver satin background fabric has a little stretch to it. I KNOW I should have stabilized the fabric to eliminate the stretch but my lazy hubris got the better of me when I was piecing with it and saying “oh I’m a good quilter, I’ll be able to quilt it just fine.” And, I probably C

Now it’s time to load the quilt onto the longarm—starting with the backing! I prefer to pin my quilts to the leaders. It’s a method that’s worked well for me over the years, so I stick with it. As I load, I like to lightly mist the backing with filtered water. This simple step helps relax any wrinkles and ensures a smoother load onto the leaders. I have sped this video up a bit—yes, I know, you all want real-time—but trust me, about 10 minutes of loading a quilt isn’t the most thrilling footage.

Here are three tips to help machine quilting with minky a bit easier! I'm loading an adorable quilt onto the longarm, I can't wait to share my full process of custom machine quilting this darling quilt, soon in the PNQ Academy. This quilt backing is minky, so whenever working with minky backing, there are three simple tips that have helped my process much easier. 1st - make sure you're loading against the stretch. This may require quilting a quilt sideways on the longarm machine. 2nd - Make sure

⏱️ I TIMED MYSELF! ⏱️ I’ve never really timed myself loading a quilt onto the longarm—because let’s be real, machine quilting isn’t a race! But out of curiosity, I decided to see how fast I could do it. 🧐 Comment ACADEMY and I'll send you info about the PNQ Academy. This quilt is on the smaller side (about 60" wide), and I thought I was pretty fast… but I was still shocked when I saw the final time—14:59! 🤯 Also, can we take a moment for how adorable this heart quilt is?! 😍 I’ll be doing a mi
