When it comes to letterpress printing, everything that one prints has to be .918 of an inch, also known as Type High. Because finding wood that fits that height requirement, sometimes woodcuts were recycled and a new engraving was made on the other side. It has become a tradition here at the Sacramento History Museum to send out holiday cards to our donors and supporters of our institution.
