March 6 is National Dentist's Day. The Navy had dentists on the ships with facilities for x-rays, dental prosthetics, and any type of dental work needed by the crew. Take a look at the recently restored dental ward aboard the USS Yorktown. The project was spearheaded by volunteer Karl Herscher, a retired US Navy dental officer, who got a group of volunteers together to help scrape, paint, convert the lighting to LEDs, and restore the spaces to look as good as new.
