The fat over lean issue confuses most artists starting their adventure with oils, so let me explain… Mediums have different chemical reaction when mixed with oils. Lean mediums are those that speed up the drying time (eg Liquin or solvents). Fat mediums are those that either do nothing to the drying time or slow it down (eg walnut oil).
