Beau Hightower on Instagram: "Loa loa, also known as the African eye worm, is a filarial parasite that can live in human tissue for up to 17 years. Adult females are 50–70 mm long and 0.5 mm wide, while adult males are 30–35 mm long and 0.4 mm wide. The worms migrate freely in the body's subcutaneous tissues, and are often seen moving under the conjunctiva, giving them their name. Most people infected with *Loa loa don't develop symptoms."
