March 19th, 2008, President Mwai Kibaki was among 11 other regional leaders who trooped to Kampala, Uganda to attend the commissioning of the largest Mosque in East Africa, Gaddafi National Mosque. The mosque is reputed to be the largest in East Africa, second biggest on the Continent after King Hassan Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco with a sitting capacity of 12,200 people.
